Disclaimer: Before Harry Potter became a taboo issue in the book community due to JKR’s transphobic comments, I had already separated her from the franchise. She is a horrible, horrible human being who deserves nothing from us, and I strongly encourage my fellow Potterheads to only buy HP merch/movies/books secondhand.
This trunk was my second “Revamp” project from the FB marketplace, and it’s easily one of my favorites. Harry Potter has always held a special place in my heart, and now I have a great piece to honor my love for it.
I made this after I had already separated JKR from Harry Potter itself, and everything HP was bought secondhand. On the right is a before//after comparison of the trunk I bought vs. the trunk I created.
The top of the trunk is covered in The Sorcerer’s Stone, and the entire outside was spray painted purple. Initially, I didn’t plan for this to be an HP trunk, but when I found a few copies of the first book on my shelves, I knew it was meant to be.
On the insides, I covered the tacky blue material with “wood” fabric, along with a plethora of different HP stickers I ordered from a third-party seller on Amazon.
Overall, this project was around $30, and 100% worth the effort.
